Spy shows, cam2cam, and the add-ons nobody explains
The five show types are the structure. Sitting on top of them is a layer of extras — spy access, two-way cam, recordings, tip-activated toys — that are rarely explained anywhere and are where a session quietly gets expensive.
Spy shows: cheap, and exactly as passive as that implies
A spy show lets you watch a private that somebody else is paying for, at a reduced rate. You see and hear everything. You cannot type, the performer does not know you specifically are watching, and nothing you want has any bearing on what happens.
It has one genuinely good use: finding out what a particular performer's private sessions are actually like before you buy one at full price. Twenty minutes of spy is a cheap answer to an expensive question.
As a habit it is worse value than it looks, for the reason set out on the group shows page: spy is priced as a discount on private, not against group, so you can easily pay more to watch passively than you would to participate. Compare the two before assuming spy is the budget option.
One thing worth knowing: on most platforms the person paying for the private can disable spying, and many do. A locked private is not a glitch, it is someone paying for privacy.
Cam2cam: an add-on, not a show
Cam2cam turns on your own camera during a private, so the performer can see you. On most platforms it carries a surcharge on top of the private rate — sometimes a flat addition, sometimes a higher per-minute figure.
Two things are worth being clear about. It is always opt-in: no legitimate platform enables your camera without an explicit action from you, and no performer can turn it on from their side. And it is never a condition of anything — a chat that frames switching it on as required, expected, or a test of good faith is doing something other than running a show.
If you do use it, the rest of the privacy advice on this site stops being optional. Anything visible behind you is visible; anything identifying in frame is identifying. The sensible default is to leave it off, and if you would rather just watch, the public rooms cost nothing and ask for nothing.

The pattern: add-ons with a posted price and an immediate effect are usually fair value, because you can see exactly what you bought. Add-ons billed in small increments over time — per-message DMs especially — are where people lose track, because no single charge is large enough to notice.
Running a paid session without losing track
- Do the conversion before you start, not during. Tokens per minute times your token price. Write the per-hour figure down if it helps; it is usually the number that changes people's plans.
- Watch your token balance, not the clock. Balance is the honest display. Time passes differently in a private than it does anywhere else.
- Decide the end before the start. "Fifteen minutes" decided in advance is a plan. "A bit longer" decided at minute fourteen is not.
- Buy the bundle you meant to buy. The per-token discount on larger bundles is real, and it is also the mechanism for getting you to commit more than you planned. Both things are true.
- Use a prepaid card. It enforces the limit structurally, at the exact moment your judgement is least reliable.
What a legitimate platform never does
Three things mark the difference, and all three are visible before you spend anything. A real platform never requires a card merely to watch — verification happens at token purchase. It never asks you to install a player, codec or extension, because streams run in the browser and any download prompt is malware. And it never pressures you to pay outside the site: gift cards, bank transfers, crypto and payment apps have no dispute resolution, which is exactly why the request gets made. On most platforms, asking is itself a bannable offence.
Recording or screenshotting a performer violates the terms of every major platform and is a criminal offence in a growing number of jurisdictions. It ends accounts permanently, and it is the act that makes extortion possible.
